OCHI’s mission is about more than just housing, it is about
making a positive impact in people’s lives. Many of
our rental properties have on-site programs that further our mission
by increasing residents’ access to resources of all kinds. The
goal of OCHI’s Resident Services Department is to offer residents
opportunities to 1) maintain or improve health and self-sufficiency,
and 2) meet personal or family goals. A wide variety of services
are offered to families, children, youth, seniors and people with
disabilities.
Each property that participates
in our Resident Services Program has a unique combination of programs
and activities that may change according to residents’ interests and the resources that are
available. The following are typical offerings:
Barrett
Terrace & Barrett
Plaza
Services include after school and summer youth programs, counseling,
crisis management and referrals.
Beth Eden Housing Development
Services include weekly exercise and nutrition classes and quarterly
on-site free Foot and Health Clinics, offered through a partnership
with the Over 60 Health Center and Lifelong Medical Care. A
service coordinator is also available for individual counseling,
referrals and case management.
Bishop Roy C. Nichols Senior Housing
This small community (17 apartments) includes a computer lab, with
personal computer lessons by request. A services coordinator
is available on site for individualized assistance.
Eldridge
Gonaway Commons
Services include student tutoring and homework help, educational
board games available in the community room, tutoring in English
as a second language, computer skills training, and community workshops. A
coordinator is available on-site for individualized assistance.
Foothill Family Apartments
Services include individual supportive services for residents including
children, pre-vocational services, computer lab, basic computer
skills training, after-school tutoring, and a summer lunch program;
provided or arranged by an on-site coordinator.
Foothill Plaza
Services include individual supportive services for residents including children, computer lab, after-school tutoring, and a summer lunch program; provided or arranged by a coordinator located at the neighboring Kenneth Henry Court.
Kenneth Henry Court
Services include individual supportive services for residents including
children, computer lab, basic computer skills training, after-school
tutoring, and a summer lunch program; provided or arranged by an
on-site coordinator.
Rumrill Place
Services are offered primarily on Saturdays and Sundays and include
computer training, weekend homework assistance, and summer activities.
San Antonio Terrace
Services focus on youth development and include tutoring and homework
help, computer skills training, health and nutrition activities,
educational board games, and community gardening. An on-site
coordinator is available for individualized assistance.
Sylvester Rutledge Manor
Sylvester Rutledge offers a free weekly shuttle with wheelchair access
to shopping locations chosen by the residents; and a computer lab
on the premises with training available. A coordinator is
available on-site for individualized assistance.
